Basement Song
Basement stairs are forgiving
Downstairs floors aren’t for living
Down there meant for repair
Hidden in my bottom lair
‘neath my whiskey still
You’ve begun to lose your will
In this lonely place
I take your face
Walls lined with corpses from before
You’re opposed forces in war
You’re always at a distance
A dirty mark in black
In a momentary trance
Ready for all out verbal attack
You don’t realise your sin
You don’t know the trouble you’re in
In this lonely place
I take your face
Walls lined with corpses from before
You’re opposed forces in war
Downstairs floors aren’t for living
Down there meant for repair
Hidden in my bottom lair
‘neath my whiskey still
You’ve begun to lose your will
In this lonely place
I take your face
Walls lined with corpses from before
You’re opposed forces in war
You’re always at a distance
A dirty mark in black
In a momentary trance
Ready for all out verbal attack
You don’t realise your sin
You don’t know the trouble you’re in
In this lonely place
I take your face
Walls lined with corpses from before
You’re opposed forces in war
